Passengers traveling by train from north to south of Vietnam and vice versa will have access to free wifi on the carriages and at train stations in big cities.
According to representative from Hanoi Railway Corporation, the Administration of Vietnam Railway has assigned the corporation to launch a pilot wifi system on SE1 and SE2 on route from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh city and vise versa.

This is a pilot project and the corporation will examine if the installation of wifi would provide network for passengers on board. Then the corporation will assess the progress and results, get experience and multiply the program in other train journeys in order to secure best service for passengers. In 1-3 months, Hanoi Railway corporation will work with telecommunication companies will have surveys for the location of coverage stations. The Vietnam Railways is trying their best to serve clients, at the moment wifi access is available at 7 big stations across the country to serve passengers, Hanoi Railway station is the first unit chosen to have free internet wifi. The Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang has signed an approval of comprehensive renovation of state management of the Vietnam Railway Administration. According to the decision, the comprehensive renovation of Vietnam Railways will be aimed for the period 2014 - 2020. The railways will develop with modernity, safety and efficiency, create favorable conditions for production and circulation of goods, passengers.

The project is known part of the plan to change service manners and enhance business effectiveness of the Vietnam Railways.

Vietnam railways system was built from north to south, passengers can cover 2000km length from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh city in 32 hours, with the rising demand of passengers especially foreign visitors, Vietnam Railways has invested to enhance the quality of cabins on train, serving the needs of all passengers from cheap to deluxe. Most international tourists travel by overnight train from Hanoi to Hue to Danang, another hot line for visitors is from Sai Gon to Mui Ne. Travellers can also take a spectacular day train from Danang to Nha Trang.
