Ba
Be National Park
Ba Be National Park is located in
Bac Kan town about 250 km north of
Hanoi. The park is more than 10.000 hectares in area, of which
Ba Be Lake is a landmark of this garden. The lake is surrounded by forests on the limestone mountains - where shelter many species of special fresh water fish, the lake also supply of food for residents living around the area. In 1995, Ba Be Lake was recognized as one of the 20 fresh water lakes in the world which should be protected.
According to incomplete statistics, The national park of Ba Be has up to 1,280 plant species belonging to nearly 140 families, including many species of rare plants recorded in the Red Book of Viet Nam and the world. Especially, the 25 plant species named in the Red Book of the Association of Nature Conservation World (IUCN).
Researchers in Vietnam and the world assess Ba Be national park as a center of diversied orchids, not only in Vietnam but also the whole of Southeast Asia with 182 species.
The animals here are very rich and diverse in terms of quantity and type with more than 600 species belonging to 27 families, including 66 species of rare animals and special property such as land phoenix, wild chicken, langurs...Many species was named to the International Red Book and Viet Nam.
National Park Ba Be not only is the center of biodiversity but also a famous tourist site in Vietnam. Besides Ba Be Lake, the national parks also has many unique attractions, such as the Puong Cave, Dau Dang waterfall, Fairy pond...
