Cao Bang

 

Magnificent natural beauty, majestic mountain scenery, famous historical sites and the cultural diversity of nine ethnic minority peoples Tay, Nung, Dao, Mong, Kinh, Chinese, San Chi ...) have made Cao Bang a major tourist destination.
Cao Bang is a border town close to China and has been developing very fast over the past few years. It is the main base for travellers to get reach other points worthy of attention in the vicinity such as Ban Gioc Waterfall, Pac Bo caves...

Ban Gioc Waterfalls
Located right on the borderline between Vietnam and China, Ban Gioc has long been a point of disputing of the two countries. The falls belongs to Trung Khanh district, 90 km from Cao Bang Town and about 2 hours driving. In rainy season, The waterfalls' echo can be heard from faraway


From a height of 30m the volume of water flows down the big limestone steps. Between waterfall is a big stone scope covered with trees spliting the river into 3 flows which that look like white silk stripes. Day and night water flows in torrents down the flat rocks making a white curtain of white dust over a large area, on sunny days, rainbows can be seen magically over the water, at the foot of the falls is Quy Son river with a wide surface, flat as a mirror, on the two sides are carpets of green grass and immense forests
Nguom Ngao cave is very close to the waterfall, the tunnel cave is about 2 km long and has long been appreciated as one of the most beautiful caves of Vietnam.
Thang Hen lake - the legend of a lake on mountain
Thang Hen lake is in Tra Linh district, about 25km from Cao Bang town, it is a beautiful lake high on the mountain, thousands of meters from the sea level, the lake is located in a forest of white "Tram" trees. The pound lake, about 3000 m long and 1000 m wide, is composed of 36 beautiful lakes on the high mountains, is surrounded by dense trees reaching to the mountain cliffs, the green water bends is flow around the valley scattered with underwater rocks. Across the lake is a big cave from which water flows out, especially the tides go up and down twice a day and make the water of the lake always green, in the middle of the lake is a spectacular islet.
Pac Bo cave
Pac Bo belongs to Truong Ha commune, Ha Quang district, about 50 km from Cao Bang, in the local language, Pac Bo means "watershed".
Pac Bo is the source of Vietnam revolution for this place is closely attached to an important period of President Ho Chi Minh's life. It was the first place Ho Chi Minh chose to stay when he came back to homeland after 30 years living and acting abroad. Here Uncle Ho opened training classes on political, military officers for the network, translated and published many documents, provided important guidelines to prepare for the historical August Revolution-1945
The historical site Pac Bo with spectacular mountains and river has become a spiritual place, also a major tourist special identity of Cao Bang, attracts more and more tourists.
How to get there:
Cao Bang is approx 300 km from Hanoi, the only way to come here is by car or public buses which takes about 7 hours. All publich buses stop in Cao Bang and from here you can catch other buses to the province's districts and communes
.
