Vietnam tourism grows despite difficulty
Although facing
many difficulties and challenges in the first 7 months of 2014,
Vietnam tourism took advantage of favorable conditions to sustain
growth and improve the quality of tourism services.
Number
of international visitors to Vietnam in July 2014 is estimated at
564736 tourists, although reduced compared with the same period in
2013, but rose by 4.6% compared to the previous month. Then after
two consecutive months of falling international visitors to Vietnam
(decreased 19.94% in June in comparison with May, the number
decreased 9.62% in May compared to April 2014), foreign visitors to
Vietnam has increased again. the growth rate of tourism industry
fluctuated each month but the first 7 months of the year still
maintained growth momentum. The total number of international travellers to Vietnam in the first 7 months of 2014 was estimated at
4.852.621 arrivals, increasing 15.6% compared to the same period
last year. Total revenue from tourists reached 142.400 billion
Vietnam Dong (70 million US dollars), up 21.2% compared to the same
period in 2013, the domestic tourist arrivals in the first seven
months of 2014 reached 27.2 million, up 6.7% compared to 2013.
To improve the quality of tourism services and meet the increasing
demand, the infrastructure conditions and technical facilities of
the tourism sector has been constantly investing and expanding. To
date, Vietnam has more than 15.900
accommodation establishments with
more than 331.500 rooms, of which the high end segment tends to
rise; more than 1,300 international travel agencies, more than ten
thousand local tour operators; and over 14,500 tourist guides,
including more than 8000 in-bound tour guides, over 6400 local
guides and thousands of presenters at the
Vietnam tourist destinations. The
continuous growth of travel businesses, travel guides and the
increasing professionalism of the tourism industry workforce have
proved the size and capacity of service providers of
Vietnam travel.
At the same time, the development of human resources also attracts
special focus. The training course for tourism workforce, skills
training for tourism to be held regularly and contribute to
improving the professionalism of the tourism industry.
