U
Minh forest
U Minh forest has a total area of about 2000 km2 located between
Ca Mau
and
Kien Giang provinces. U Minh forest is divided into two distinct
areas: U Minh Thuong and U Minh Ha forests are divided by two rivers,
the Trem river and the Cai Tau river. This is a unique and rare forest
in the world because it still retains the wild character, U Minh forest
has a high biodiversity including 250 types of plants, 30 species of
reptiles and 180 species of birds.
U Minh Ha National Park
In 2006, the Prime Minister issued a decision to turn U Minh Ha forest
into a national park. U Minh Ha forest covers an area of more than 82
square kilometers in the territory of Ca Mau province. This is a forest
that still retains its original wild character. Yes, this is a wetland
area, so biodiversity is very high. Currently, U Minh Ha forest has
about 25,000 hectares of a buffer zone that is favorable for the
development of fisheries and forestry. Typical plants such as Melaleuca,
dented, reed, hairy-nosed otters, pangolins, deer, long-tailed
monkeys... In 2009, U Minh Ha National Park was included in UNESCO's
list of reserve areas. biosphere of the world and is the core area of Ca
Mau Cape Biosphere Reserve.

U Minh Thuong National Park
U Minh Thuong forest covers an area of about 80 km2 in Kien Giang
province and Ca Mau peninsula, this is a very important forest for the
ecosystem of Vietnam, formerly U Minh Thuong forest was alum waterlogged
forest adjacent to a strip of forest. mangroves in the Gulf of Thailand,
due to the intrusion of sea water, the area of the forest has shrunk, in
1950 the area of the forest was 400 hectares, in 1990 it was only 100
hectares. With the important functions that U Minh Thuong forest has, in
2002 the Prime Minister decided to turn U Minh Thuong forest into a
national park, in order to preserve and develop the biodiversity here.
Unlike U Minh Ha forest, which is only for conservation and research, U
Minh Thuong forest focuses on conservation and tourism development. With
a large wetland area, it is a favorable condition to preserve the
standard sample of alum-flooded Melaleuca forest on peatland, an
important wetland area of the lower Mekong River; Conserve rare and
precious animals and 8 important waterfowl species such as dingoes,
black-headed ibis, gray-footed pelicans, yellow-tailed pelicans,
gray-headed fish kites, big cocks, black eagles, etc. Contributing to
the conservation of the monument national courtesy to the revolutionary
war zone U Minh Thuong in the two resistance wars; Contributing to
