Quan
Ho folk song
What is Quan Ho folk song?
Quan ho folk song is one of the typical folk songs of the Red River
Delta - Vietnam.
Quan ho was formed in the ancient Kinh Bac cultural area, now the
boundary of the two provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang and some areas
of Lang Son,
Hung Yen, and
Hanoi today.
Origin of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk song
No one knows exactly when and when Quan ho folk song was born, there are
many different opinions about the origin of Quan ho singing. There is an
opinion that the mandarin here refers to the royal music, it is said
that a certain mandarin, when passing through the Kinh Bac region, was
fascinated by the singing of his brothers and sisters here, so he
stopped to listen. listen and enjoy. But is the origin of Quan Ho folk
songs as simple as that?
Another opinion is that Quan ho singing originates from folk rituals,
from the people's daily life. Quan ho singing is also associated with
the Cau River flowing through the territory of Kinh Bac province, this
river is also known as the Quan Ho river.
However, these are all achievements, opinions, and hypotheses that
people have put forward, but there has never been a history book that
mentions or proves the true origin of Bac Ninh quan ho folk song.
