Cycling in Ninh Binh

Biking Ninh Binh Vietnam

Ninh Binh is a popular tourist destination due to historic sites and beautiful natural sites. These are Tam Coc, Bich Dong, Hoa Lu, Kenh Ga and the Cuc Phuong National Park. It is filled with captivating natural beauty and tranquil village life and what better way to explore the wonderful scenery than on two-wheels. Although motorbikes and cars are increasingly popular in the big cities, bicycles still rule the roads in the rural areas, so join the locals as you saddle up for this fantastic journey! This cycling adventure starts south of Hanoi in Hoa Lu and takes you to 'Halong-Bay-on-Land' Tam Coc. En-route, you will cover more than 45kms as you visit the limestone karts region of Northern Vietnam.

Start the trail route cycling to the temples dedicated to Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang of the Dinh Dynasty (968-80), and Emperor Le Dai Hanh of the Le Dynasty (980-1009). The ancient Hoa Lu Citadel (most of which has since been destroyed) once covered an area of three square kilometers.

Continue cycling to Tam Coc through stunning limestone karst valleys surrounded by picturesque fields and villages, along the way stop where you wish to take photographs. A sampan trip on the river cannot be missed, as the boat gently slices through the water, notice the enormous limestone karsts jutting out from the green rice fields giving rise to Hoa Lu's other name, 'Halong on Land'. Should you feel adventurous climb up to Bich Dong Pagoda on nearby Ngu Nhac Mountain.
