Bac Kan


 

 

Bac Kan is a mountainous province, sharing its border with Cao Bang Province to the north, Tuyen Quang Province to the west, Lang Son Province to the south-east, and Thai Nguyen Province to the south. The topography is mainly midland, mountainous.

Coming to Bac Kan, tourists will be impressed by beautiful landscapes, rich forest and mineral resources, etc., and the life rich in cultural identity of the mountainous people of Northeastern Vietnam.

Ba Be Lake is a famous landscape that was recognized as National historic cultural heritage in 1996 by the Government with the proposal to be recognized by UNESCO as a World inheritance. The Spring Festival of Ba Be is held annually in January by lunar calendar. It welcomes tens of thousands of visitors coming from all parts of the country.

In Bac Kan, tourists will have an opportunity to visit the Cho Don revolutionary Ba Be. This is the Seat of government in wartime where Uncle Ho and other Party leaders guided the resistance war against French colonialism. Recently, the Cho Don revolutionary Ba Be is in the course of restoration according to the National Project for "The Northern most Vietnam Ba Be" approved by the Central Government.

Bac Kan is the land of different kinds of typical topography with a system of gigantic grottos easy to access for tourists like: Poung cave, Tien cave, Na Phoong cave, Ba Cua cave, Son Duong cave, Nang Tien cave and Tham Long grottos, etc.

In Bac Kan, tourists may also go sightseeing at other places like Nature preservation museum of Kim Hy (Na Ri), pagodas and temples like Tham Temple and Thach Long Pagoda (in limestone mountains) or make a sightseeing boat-trip on Cau river and Nang river. Tourists may also take part in original cultural Festivals "Lung Tung Festival", "Tung Con Festival" with ethnic minorities girls. Everybody should enjoy the special sweet taste of fruit in Viet Bac like persimmon without pip, pear, orange, tangerine, etc.

With the attractive tourism resources and the hospitability of local hosts, tourists will be likely to feel a great interest and usefulness from the visit to Bac Kan province.
